Prolific property flippers Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have snapped up a Tudor-style residence outside Los Angeles for $US3.607 million ($5.26 million), according to media reports.

The three-bedroom home comprises two barns originally built in England in the 1700s, transported to the secluded coastal town of Montecito and reconstructed into a private home.

A glassed-in orangerie connects the two barns and living spaces of the 1986-built pad.

With a landscape architect-designed garden and tree-shaded outdoor sitting space, the hideaway sits on a generous block of more than 5400 square metres.

The unusual home features wooden beams inside and out, expansive windows, crackling fireplaces and a kitchen decked out with both high-tech smart speakers and a rustic drying rack.

The Hollywood couple are busy property enthusiasts and recently bought a string of other properties in the same town, according to Variety, including a $US27 million Balinese-style mansion, a near-$US1.9 million fixer-upper next door, and a two-bedroom apartment.

They sold a $US34 million residence, also in Montecito, in 2018, making $US7.5 million on the sale in five years, and offloaded a $US11 million property in the same area earlier that year.

Last year they sold a Beverly Hills home for $US15.5 million after making minor renovations, dropping their previous $US17.95 million asking price.

The agent on the most recent deal was Susan Pate of The Morehart Group at Compass, while the buyers were represented by Riskin Partners Estate Group.
