Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her actor wife Portia de Rossi have bought yet another California home, spending more than $3.7 million on a property that backs onto a train line.
The talk show host and the Australian star have been revealed as the buyers of another Montecito home, this time spending $US2.9 million ($3.74 million) on a mid-century bungalow, Dirt reports.
The prolific property flippers – who sold their last remaining home in Los Angeles for $US47 million in April – have made no secret of their love of Montecito, in Santa Barbara County, having bought and sold multiple properties there over the years.
The pair recently spent $US14.3 million buying back a Montecito ranch they had flipped and sold to Tinder co-founder Sean Rad for $US11 million in 2018. They also forked out $US49 million on a mega-compound, formerly owned by talk show host Dennis Miller, in the area last year, made a multi-million-dollar profit on a flipped Tudor-style home they sold to pop star Ariana Grande, and sold a Bali-inspired estate in the area for $US33.3 million.
News of the couple’s latest purchase comes after DeGeneres announced she would end her long-running daytime television show after the 19th season.
The mid-century bungalow is more modest than many of the couple’s other real estate holdings but is still a stylish abode, with cosy interior spaces that open out to multiple patios surrounded by lush landscaping.
The two-bedroom, two-bathroom house was built in 1954 and sits on a 1780-square-metre block. It centres around a sleek kitchen, which flows onto the living room with a fireplace and a large courtyard with a water feature and a firepit, the listing states. The main bedroom is privately tucked away and has a walk-in closet and a glass-walled bathroom that opens to a private courtyard.
The property has parking for six cars and has a large backyard that offers plenty of room for a pool or guest house, if the celebrities were keen to make some additions to the property.
The property is also privately secured behind noise-reducing acoustic fencing, which will come in handy given the block backs onto a train line and a highway beyond that.
The property was sold through Nancy Kogevinas of Berkshire Hathaway.
