Barrister Sandy Street and his wife, Sally, secured $2.58 million for their Palm Beach retreat with two bidders seeking the hillside house at its midweek auction.

The Pacific Road propertywas listed through Peter Robinson of LJ Hooker Palm Beach having last sold at $2.5 million in mid-2008.

Two in one success

Rugby commentator Gordon Bray and his wife, interior designer Catherine, have sold their three-bedroom, two-bathroom Potts Point apartment.

The Victoria Street unit had been listed since earlier this year with $3.3 million-plus hopes through Brad Caldwell Eyles at 1st City Hasemer + Caldwell.Eyles.

The rebuilt 160 sq m apartmentwas an amalgamation of two, occupying the entire northern end of the 18th floor of the 20-storey tower built in 1985.

The initial unit cost $1.21 million in 2003 followed by a $760,000 purchase in 2006.

On doctor’s orders

More than $2.4 million is tipped at the October 30 auction of the top-floor Tamarama duplex apartment of David Sutherland and his wife Jennifer.

The unit in the Gaerloch Avenue block, Wairakei, overlooks the coastline of Mackenzies Bay.

It comes with 140 sq m of living space with retained period details. There is a 66 sq mlock-up garage.

It has been listed through McGrath agent Bethwyn Richards.

They paid $493,000 in 1988. The couple has relocated to the Southern Tablelands where Dr Sutherland has taken on a visiting medical officer position at Braidwood Hospital, and as GP at the medical centre.

The couple moved to Tamarama after Dr Sutherlandwas appointed a senior lecturer at the University of NSW’s rural health unit at the faculty of medicine.

Young Einstein says no

Actor Yahoo Serious, who rose to fame in the 1988 hit film Young Einstein, knocked back $3.1 million for his Palm Beach house when it went to midweek auction through LJ Hooker agent David Edwards.

Serious and his former wife, the actor, producer and artist Lulu Pinkus, paid $980,000 in 1992 when they bought from then nightclub owner Charles Boutagy.

Artist ups easel

Artist Anne Judell has listed her Robertson district residence with plans to move to Bundeena to be closer to her children in Sydney.

The two-hectare McGuinness Drive, Mount Murray holding has views over Mount Macquarie and out to sea. It comes with a three-bedroom house.

Its lower-level guest quarters include an ensuite bathroom. There’s also an artist’s studio constructed from rammed earth.

More than $1.25 million is being  sought by its McGrath Bowral listing agent Rick Mooney.

$2.4m for Pittwater views

Actor Ian Stenlake, who appears in the Nine Network drama series Sea Patrol, and his wife, the singer Rachel Beck, have listed their Avalon house with $2.4 million hopes.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom Binburra Avenue house on a 1012 sq m block with views across Pittwater has been listed through Andrew Blake at Andrew Blake Real Estate.

It’s been their home since 2003 after the couple moved from Melbourne.
