A bright pink house in Notting Hill, London, is on the market for £1.25 million ($AU2.4 million).

It’s a hefty price to pay for a very small building. The house measures just three-and-a-half metres wide – about enough room for two people to lie lengthways.

“The owner said he thinks it’s one of the most-photographed houses in Notting Hill. He’s had to kick people off his doorstep taking pictures for Instagram more times than he can remember,” agent Jack Thomas from Knight Frank tells The Standard

According to the agent, the house’s hot pink colour was actually an accident.

“When they painted it, [the owners] were rushing on a Friday evening. They didn’t realise how bright a pink they were painting it until they woke up the next morning and saw it,” Thomas says.

The wealthy suburb of Notting Hill is well-known for its rows of pastel-coloured terraces. Every year, it hosts the world-famous Notting Hill carnival, which draws up to 1.5 million people each year.

The pink house is popularly known as the ‘Bank Robber House’, after the Bankrobber London art gallery that used to sit across the road.

The gallery owners reportedly loved the pink house so much they asked the owners if they could showcase some of their artworks there – including works by Banksy.

The house was originally built in 1890 as a horse stable. All up, there are 80 square metres of floor space spread over two levels.

On the ground floor is a bright living room and kitchen with exposed brick ceilings and a marble fireplace.

A wrought iron spiral staircase leads up to the one bedroom and bathroom, where you can soak in the tub while enjoying a view of your private balcony.

On the top floor is a rooftop terrace which the listing says offers “a peaceful outdoor retreat with stunning views – perfect for relaxing or entertaining.”

“The property features a distinctive brick arched ceiling above the dining area, a striking wrought iron staircase, and two ornate fireplaces in the bedrooms, adding elegance and warmth to the living spaces,” the listing adds.
