Do you love city and ocean views? You can generally have both if you turn your eyes to the Gold and Sunshine Coast hinterlands, where you might be able to find a house with what you’re looking for.

Larger blocks of lands in the mountains lining south east Queensland’s beach towns mean that there’s also lots of large, private estates dotting the countryside, built to make the most of the land holdings.

615 Beechmont Road, Lower Beechmont

Price: $969,000

Agent: Mark Parry and Jane Doogan

4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 car parks

This home is a bit further away from the beach than other homes on the list, but it has a great mix of city views and views of the Hinze Dam, which is pretty different for Hinterland property.

“With that home, the way it’s positioned is quite unique,” LJ Hooker Nerang agent Mark Parry said. “You have the whole panorama there and it’s unmatched. It really is a million dollar view.”

There four bedroom home also comes with two hectares of land, 20 solar panels for power, walk-in robes in every room.

75 Lone Hand Lane, Eumundi

Price: About $3 million

Agent: Joanne Marek

4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 3 car parks

This one doesn’t have those aforementioned ocean or city views, but it does have some killer mountain and forest panoramas.

The living room windows open all the way up, so thin air is the only thing between you reclining and an armchair and the tree tops.

The home itself is an architectural marvel, filled with glass and steel and a vaguely spiral-shaped design.

68 Hayward Road, Lake MacDonald

Price: $2,650,000+

Agent: Kess Prior

8 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, and 5 car parks

On the banks of Lake MacDonald sits 68 Hayward Road, a home that makes the most of the extra land afforded to hinterland homes.

Eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms is quite a lot, and just about every inch of the of the home is wrapped in covered, plantation style verandahs. There’s also a picturesque pool if you don’t feel like walking all the way down to the lake.

For such a massive home, Hinternoosa agent Kess Prior said, it was very “down to earth”.

“There’s not much pretentious about it,” she said. “It’s very homely but it’s still modern and quite elegant.”

To add to the appeal, no petrol motors allowed on the lake means the surroundings are tranquil year-round.

13/12 Handel Avenue, Worongary

13/12 Handel Ave, Worongary QLD 4213, Image 0

Price: $1.86 million

Agent: Jordan Hrovat and Min Luo

7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and 2 car parks

The home at 13/12 Handel Avenue is more of a compound than just a home – it’s a collection of three stand alone structures. There’s two granny flats off the main home, one of which is currently occupied by the owner’s children.

“It’s good if you’ve got family of friends,” V & M Realty’s Jordan Hrovat said.

The deck looks out onto the glittering Gold Coast and beyond. It’s also physically closer to the coast than the Beechmont Road house, so the view of the coast is much clearer.

“I’ve done lots of looking around, and you can’t beat the views at all,” Mr Hrovat said.

430 Sunrise Road, Tinbeerwah

Price: $5.7 million

Agent: Tom Offermann and Eric Seetoo

6 bedroom, 6 bathrooms, 4 car parks

The extra-high price tag for this home probably has a lot to do with the fact that it’s a 35 hectare property, which if you’re a bit more old-fashioned is 88 acres, and if you don’t know much about land sizes, is huge.

But that’s not to say the home and location of the home doesn’t make it exemplary by itself. Six bedrooms and a 15 minute drive to Noosa would set you back quite a bit, whichever way you look at it.
