Ideally located between the Perth CBD and the sea, picturesque Floreat has an innate beauty that’s tailor-made for nature-loving families.

Add to this state-of-the-art amenities and a strong sense of community, and it quickly becomes clear why this vibrant and diverse suburb is one of the best in the west.

Floreat has a relaxed, unpretentious, family-friendly vibe, says Emily Hiskins of Duet Property Group.

It’s a place where families not only enjoy the parklands and recreational spaces but also the sense of safety that the suburb offers.

“There are still many original residents in Floreat who are in their 70s to 80s, but buyers are predominantly young professional families with toddlers to primary school-aged children,” Hiskins says.

“They come here to raise their kids in a safe, community-led environment and particularly love the large block sizes, access to Perth’s best beaches and proximity to the city.

With a median house price of $1.625 million, according to the latest Domain House Price Report, Floreat earns a spot as Perth’s eighth-most expensive suburb for houses.

Hiskins says block values have increased dramatically over the past 18 months.

“There’s also no shortage of outdoor activities for the sports lovers,” she adds.

“The nearby Wembley Golf Course neighbours the Bold Park Aquatic Centre on Floreat’s north-eastern border, while the Bendat Basketball Centre and WA Athletics Stadium sit side-by-side in the south-eastern corner.”

The beating heart of the community manifests in organisations like the Floreat Surf Life Saving Club, operating on the white sands and turquoise waters of Floreat beach, where on any sunny day, the beach and club become a hub for locals.

“Floreat is truly a hidden gem, especially in the vicinity of the surf club, where the beach is easy to access and is rarely overcrowded, together with a wonderful playground and barbecue area for families,” says club president Cathy McIntyre.

“We are proud to welcome everyone from the community. Members can volunteer their time to participate in patrolling the beach and learning to paddleboard.

“There’s also a wonderful social aspect to our club ideal for all ages, with ocean views always on offer.”

Having grown up in the neighbouring suburb of Wembley Downs, where she currently lives with her husband and children, McIntyre has fully embraced the joyful way of life that the area affords, one where she can be found at the beach almost every day of the year.
