Former Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke’s Bondi Beach pad has sold for more than $7.25 million after news of his split with wife Kyly was confirmed in a joint statement on Thursday.
The residence has been on the market since last August and was an open listing, but sold on Wednesday night after a buyer’s agent introduced the buyer.
Clarke bought the three-bedroom sub-penthouse for $6 million a decade ago from his friend, celebrity accountant Anthony Bell.
The cricketer shared the home in the boutique Cadigal building briefly with model Lara Bingle, who is now married to Sam Worthington, before they split a year later.
In recent years the apartment has been a high-earning investment for the former Test cricket captain, reaping about $5000 a week while Clarke and Kyly lived in the Vaucluse residence they bought in 2014 for $8.3 million.
But with the pair agreeing to divorce, Clarke had reportedly relocated to the beachfront spread while Kyly appeared set to stay in the Vaucluse home with their daughter.
The Bondi Beach apartment offers knockout ocean views through floor-to-ceiling windows, an outdoor entertaining terrace, Miele kitchen appliances, a spacious open-plan living area and two car spaces.
Clarke was contacted for comment through his management agency.
