When local real estate agent Jonny Warren decided to take a big leap of faith and start his own agency, Jonny Warren Properties, the timing in his career felt right.

What he couldn’t know ahead of time was that this big change would coincide with the monumental disrupter that was the COVID pandemic.

But in some ways it was a foreshadow of things to come because Warren is somewhat of a disruptor himself.

Fast-forward to today and Jonny Warren Properties couldn’t be in a better position. It has a growing team who love the family-friendly, people-first culture Warren and wife Belinda are working hard to instil; the business has sold more properties in the last three months than it did in the previous six months of the year; and they officially opened a brand-new office on Geraldton Crescent in Fyshwick on December 8.

“It’s in between Anaconda and Baby Bunting facing Canberra Avenue. It’s a big orange building, you won’t miss it!” he says.

Loud branding and a unique marketing approach with the company slogan “Every home tells a story” (a beautiful nod to advice he received from his mother as he began his career) is how Warren is setting himself apart in the Canberra real estate industry.

The business produces engaging videos with creative narratives from the vendor’s perspective. These are overlaid with his energy, passion and larger-than-life personality, helping to bring a new mindset to the business of buying and selling property.

For multi-award-winning Warren, focusing on his clients’ property journey, and getting the best result for them that he can, is more important than “chasing the dollar”.

“Our values are based on caring for people,” he explains. “I say to all my team, ‘If you chase money, then you’re in it for all the wrong reasons. If you want to do well by your clients and help them out, then that’s how you’ll get rewarded.'”

Warren says that doesn’t mean the business isn’t financially successful – quite the opposite –- but it’s a facet of his approach to residential sales and property management that he is committed to upholding.

And if the client reviews on his website are anything to go by, it’s a strategy that is resonating.

“We’re a small business and put in long hours. But we’re starting to see the benefits of the business growing and we will be expanding further in 2024,” he says. “It’s so pleasing to sit back and reflect on where I was and where I am now, the systems I’ve put in place to [achieve success]…and now we’ve got our own place we can call home.

“With my wife in the business, that’s where it has really started to change. She is there for the staff and is a great support to us all. She is simply amazing.”

Jonny Warren Properties services Canberra and its surrounds, from Queanbeyan to Yass. The business is passionate about the local community and is committed to giving back. So far this year, it has donated $60,000 to Bosom Buddies and is a regular corporate sponsor to sporting teams in the region, including the Canberra Raiders and junior clubs.
