One of Canberra’s most distinguished homes in Yarralumla has recorded the highest on-market sale for 2018*.
The selling price is just shy of the suburb’s most expensive sale to date – the historic Westridge House which went to Canberra property investor, Jaehee Choi for $6.05 million in December, 2017.
According to Domain data, a Forrest home sold off-market for $6.45 million in June. The Yarralumla residence is believed to be the second highest sale of the year.
A mystery local buyer scored the keys on Thursday evening to 16 Hill Corner, beating out buyer interest from New York, London, Beijing, and Dubai.
The bespoke home was built in 2005 and features six bedrooms, six bathrooms, and multiple living areas.
Peter Blackshaw Manuka agent Mario Sanfrancesco said the final sale price was an indication of the international appeal of the residence.
“It demonstrates that buyers appreciate great architecture and a commitment to quality interior design,” he said.
An adjoining block was acquired in 2010, and a full-sized tennis court and separate two-storey pool house and apartment were added. It bought the total size of the block to just under 2000 square metres.
The residence pushes the boundaries of modern and stylish living. Behind a deceiving facade crawling with charming ivy is a home of luxurious proportions and understated elegance.
There are floor-to-ceiling window vistas throughout the home and a standout feature is a central courtyard, which could easily fit 100 guests.
The master bedroom is nestled in a sizeable and private wing on the ground floor, with an outstanding ensuite featuring his and hers marble vanities separated by a huge glass mirror and a free-standing stone bath, with a beautiful outlook into an atrium with Japanese maple trees.
To top it all off, it’s in a blue-ribbon location.
“Hill Corner is one of the more private addresses in Yarralumla – a small, quiet crescent. Its tranquil setting is also its greatest virtue,” Mr Sanfrancesco said.
“That combination has delivered a unique home where every luxury has been included. It has really delivered an estate that lives up to that aspiration of resort-style living.”
The Peter Blackshaw Manuka principal is responsible for the top three highest sales in the embassy suburb.
