Grand Central Towers in Woden has broken the ACT sales record for most sales in one night after brokering 250 units at a special sales night on Thursday.
Guests gathered in the level-six sales suite at 15 Bowes Street – the location of the development – to celebrate its public launch and snap up some property.
About $100 million worth of property, including a $1.5 million penthouse, was exchanged for the Geocon-Zapari joint venture.
“We knew there was strong interest as we prepared to bring this development to the market, but this result has exceeded even our expectations,” Geocon managing director Nick Georgalis said.
“Selling 250 units including a penthouse and 100 per cent of the commercial spaces is a phenomenal outcome, not just for us, but for the whole of Woden.”
State-of-the-art Allhomes 3D Snaploader touch tables were a feature at the event, allowing potential buyers to envisage and interact with the available apartments.
Zapari managing director Nick Skepev told the crowd the rejuvenation of Woden is about to begin.
“Our vision for Woden is all about living in a central location with fantastic amenities and multiple transport options. The development has been designed to integrate as a transport hub specifically with light rail,” he said.
“As a local Woden resident, I could always see the vision and potential for Woden; to become a dynamic, thriving town centre where people work, live and play, in the same way Belconnen has enjoyed a resurgence over the past decade.”
The New York-inspired apartments will comprise of 430 apartments across two towers standing at 16 and 26-storeys.
Features of the development were also unveiled at the event including a wine cellar, bike hub, car wash, gym, pool, rooftop reflection pond and a sky park.
Residents will have the option to choose from three interior design schemes.
Building works are set to commence this year and the first residents are expected to move in by late 2020.
“We are 100 per cent committed to building a new Woden,” added Georgalis.
