The Goop CEO’s Brentwood house has sold for a $12 million discount.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s 1950s house in the Lower Mandeville Canyon neighbourhood of Los Angeles has sold for $US22 million ($AU35.2 million) after seven months on the market.
It’s substantially less than her original asking price of $US29,990,000 ($AU48 million).
The actor and wellness entrepreneur first bought the Brentwood house thirteen years ago with her then-husband, Chris Martin from Coldplay.
At the time, the couple paid $US9.95 million for the home.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Paltrow is selling the house because her adult children no longer live at home.
Her main California base is now a recently-completed house in Montecito, Santa Barbara.
Paltrow made significant renovations to the Los Angeles house, including adding a one-bedroom guesthouse with its own wine cellar, office, gym, game room and cinema.
The 1950s house sits on about two-thirds of an acre of land in a leafy and secluded pocket of the city.
In total, there are eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms spread over about 1200 square metres of floorspace.
The primary residence has retained its classic twentieth-century feel, with white wood-panelled walls and herringbone floors.
Tall French windows overlook a sunny patio with an outdoor entertaining area and open fireplace.
The new studio is built in a contemporary Scandinavian style with an A-frame roof and blond timber walls.
A huge full-height window overlooks the garden, where there are olive groves, a swimming pool, and established eucalyptus trees.
Paltrow lived in the property with her husband Brad Falchuk and their four children.
The property is directly next door to rapper Kendrick Lamar’s farmhouse-style house.
