A historical mansion for sale comes with a ghost tale.
The 14-bedroom estate in the former coal mining town of Ammanford in Carmarthenshire, Wales, is a Grade II listed 15th Century Tudor mansion that is believed to have hosted the former King of England, Henry VII, back in 1485.
However, that’s not all. Legend has it the property is haunted by a female ghost who only appears to single men.
The property called Derwydd Mansion is going to auction and is listed by Luxury Welsh Homes. The price guide is £1.6 million ($AU3 million).
Dating back to 1485, the property contains a whopping 14 bedrooms, four bathrooms, seven reception rooms, a one-bedroom cottage and landscaped grounds including a “secret” wood.
The tale of the White Lady, also known as Gwen Vaughan, has been passed down from generation to generation. The belief is that the White Lady only appears to single men, by the window in the room of the property’s former owner, Tudor knight Sir Rhys ap Thomas.
Thomas is believed to have hosted Henry VII “on the way to the Battle of Bosworth in 1485”, as stated on the listing.
Derwydd Mansion features 17th Century interiors of “exceptional quality and completeness” as well as 19th Century additions.
Listing photos reveal grand archways, coffered plaster ceilings, stained glass windows, patterned floral wallpaper and oak fireplaces.
Standout features include the cozy bar and the country-style kitchen.
The listing states the property has been used for weddings and events.
