The genetically-blessed Hemsworth brothers – Chris, Luke and Liam – have listed their family LA crash pad for $6.7 million.
Variety reports that the trio splashed $US3.45 million ($4.72 million) on the secluded contemporary home in Malibu, California in early 2016 after Chris, one of the highest paid actors on the planet, and his Spanish model and actor wife Elsa Pataky decided to move their family from Los Angeles back to Australia.
Rather than dip out of the trendy Malibu property market altogether, Chris and Elsa kept their feet firmly on the LA property ladder by keeping it in the family – together with older brother Luke and younger brother Liam, the Hemsworths had a bolthole where they could stop for industry events and professional engagements.
But with younger brother Liam recently revealing he also had plans to build a home in Byron Bay, the three brothers have now decided to sell their joint venture – and look to make a tidy profit in the process.
The house, a four-bedroom, four-bathroom private residence on nearly 0.5 hectares of hilltop land, is set at the end of a long private driveway in a gated enclave.
Minimalist in design, it features light-filled, airy living areas, high ceilings, white walls and polished concrete floors.
Massive windows make the most of the stunning views and take in the best of the surrounding Point Dume mountain landscape.
Other features include a fireplace, library, dining terrace with firepit, marble-floored bathrooms and ocean glimpses.
Chris, who raked in an estimated $US76.4 million ($104.41 million) in 2019, and Pataky, most recently known for her leading role in the Australian-set Netflix series Tidelands, made Byron Bay – two hours south of Brisbane – home when they moved back to Australia.
Formerly beloved as a hippie hangout but now better known as a celebrity and rich lister hotspot, Byron Bay found itself the centre of worldwide attention over the construction of the couple’s sprawling $20 million mega mansion, which was criticised for looking more like a shopping centre than a house.
Fronting the Pacific Ocean at Broken Head, on the southern outskirts of Byron Bay, the Hemsworth/Pataky residence features a stunning infinity pool and super modern interiors.
As featured on Hemsworth’s Instagram, the six-bedroom house’s cavernous entrance gallery has a giant mural by professional surfer and artist Otis Hope Carey.
It’s unknown whether Chris will keep his hand in the Los Angeles property market; younger brother Liam, star of the Hunger Games franchise, still owns a nearly three-hectare property in Malibu that he bought in 2014 for a tick over $9.29 million, while he was still with ex-fiancee Miley Cyrus.
