The palatial Southampton estate featured in HBO’s hit TV show Succession has just sold for a stratospheric $US105 million ($145 million).

It makes the exclusive listing, famously known as the Henry Ford II Estate, the second most expensive piece of real estate ever sold in the perennially popular beachfront locale of Long Island.

Constructed in the late 1950s by the grandson of Henry Ford, Henry Ford II, the sweeping 170,500-square-metre property was shrewdly purchased in 2002 by former hedge fund manager Brenda Earl for $US21.75 million ($30 million).

It’s reported Ms Earl subsequently dumped millions more into the renovation of the idyllic property’s home, formally known as Fordune, turning the tired mansion into a 12-bedroom, 12-bathroom expression of opulence.

However, while the sale of the estate, now called Jule Pond, is awe-inspiring, it is, in fact, far less than what Ms Earl had initially wanted for the Roy family’s home away from home.

According to the New York Post, Jule Pond was under contract in April for $US145 million ($200.5 million) – a whopping $30 million less than the original $US175 million ($235 million) asking price.

The identity of the Henry Ford II Estate’s new owners is unknown, but, as the New York Post also reported, the buyers are said to be an American real estate family hailing from Florida.

Apart from an iconic mansion immortalised for all time in pop culture, the new custodians of 90 Jule Pond can also indulge in a host of unrivalled luxuries.

The sprawling freehold boasts a tennis and basketball court, pool, elegantly manicured grounds, three ponds, a six-car garage, and a guest house.

The estate’s real unique selling point, though, is far more special.

Jule Pond has exclusive frontage and access to over 400 metres of serene, sandy beaches and the gorgeous Atlantic Ocean beyond it.

It is the single largest beachfront property anywhere in the Hamptons, and it makes complete sense that the producers of Succession chose to feature the staggering estate in the comedy-drama series.

It also explains the duplicity of the Roy family children and why they want to usurp their father as the head of Waystar RoyCo – who wouldn’t want to call this place home?
