You could be next-door neighbours with the King in this London house for sale – but it would cost a right royal sum.
For £5.5 million ($10.7 million) you could buy a three-bedroom house right across the road from Buckingham palace.
The property is a 400-year-old converted carriagehouse that dates back to the 1660s. It recently underwent a major renovation to convert it from a valet parking facility to a family home.
Carriagehouses, or ‘mews homes’, are gaining popularity in London – but converting these old buildings into bright, modern homes can be a challenge.
“We were trying to fight the fact that it wasn’t a massive space,” architect Lavinia Tarantino told Mansion Global. “I think we did it well in the sense that it is very efficiently used.”
It offers 207 square metres of living space spread out over three floors.
On the ground floor is a media room and home office, along with a bathroom, laundry and guest bedroom.
The main living area is on the first floor, a bright and airy open-plan kitchen and lounge area that manages to make the small space look spacious.
Upstairs are two bedroom suites, each with its own high-end ensuite. The windows look out over neighbouring houses in the historic conservation area.
No bells and whistles were spared in the renovation, with the house boasting solar panels, an electric vehicle charging point, underfloor hearing, air source heat pumps, and integrated speakers.
The property is being sold through private treaty with John D. Wood & Co.
