Canadian hip-hop megastar Drake isn’t short of opulent property – the 33-year-old already owns a 5109-square-metre, $C100 million ($107.6 million) mansion in his hometown of Toronto and a palatial estate in the gated community of Hidden Hills in California.
But that hasn’t stopped the chart-topping artist from splurging on an exclusive rental property in Beverly Hills worth a reported $US65 million ($86.5 million).
According to the New York Post, Drake, real name Aubrey Graham, has dropped a whopping $US215,000 ($285,000) a month on the avant-garde mansion in the uber-affluent neighbourhood of Trousdale Estates.
The seven-bedroom, 14 bathroom, 1687-square-metre home sits on a sizeable 2306-square-metre block and boasts an array of aesthetic and functional features so extravagant it could be the home of Iron Man’s Tony Stark.
There’s a two-storey marble atrium, two kitchens (main and butler’s), grand spiral staircase, generous 25-metre outdoor infinity-style pool, lounge, home theatre, wine cellar and even a modern-day moat.
The mansion’s crowning glory, however, is a six-metre exposed stone waterfall that covers two of the home’s three levels.
The striking water feature is fed by the aforementioned outdoor moat and culminates in the home’s lower level, where it pools around and sustains a 150-year-old olive tree, which was imported from Italy and required a crew of 15 people and a crane to install.
The home Elementi was designed by globally renowned architects SAOTA, Dirt reports, and was built and is owned by Luxford Investment Group and Chinese billionaire film producer and art collector Wang Zhongjun.
The grandiose contemporary mansion hit the market earlier this year with an asking price of $US65 million. It is believed the home was not sold and is currently off the market.
It’s not known why Drake, who is currently enjoying his fifth non-consecutive week at number one on Billboard’s chart, has been spending time in Beverly Hills recently, with some speculating a permanent move to the storied suburb could be on the cards.
