The Bellevue Hill estate known as Allala, formerly owned by the influential Hughes family, has hit the prestige market with a price tag of about $14 million.

Commanding a huge 974 square-metre block, the home was designed by Gilbert Hughes in 1938 and owned by aviator and prominent lawyer Geoffrey Forrest Hughes, father of noted critic andThe Fatal Shore novelist Robert Hughes, and grandfather to a familiar face in Lucy Turnbull.
