Kate Mara and her husband Jamie Bell have reportedly splashed out on a new home.
The Hollywood actors are understood to have purchased Crowded House vocalist Neil Finn’s Colonial-style mansion in Los Feliz, Los Angeles, for a cool $US4.8 million ($7.5 million), according to Dirt.
Records show that New Zealand-born rock and roll artist Finn and his wife Sharon purchased the 1920s-built home back in 2020 for $US4.3 million ($6.8 million).
Oozing with charm and character, Colonial-style properties quickly became the standard in architecture after they were introduced by European settlers in the United States in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
Colonial homes have their own trademark style with their box-like shape, two or more levels, gable roof and grand staircase.
The exterior is typically wood, adding to its charm, or more earthy with brick or stone detail.
Communal areas such as the living and dining rooms all feature on the ground floor, with bedrooms on the upper levels.
Kate and Jamie’s new home contains four bedrooms and four bathrooms over two stories. There is also a renovated guesthouse for visitors to enjoy.
The A-list couple and their friends will be greeted by a bold red front door, offering instant kerb appeal.
Interiors are eye-catching with patterned wallpaper in bold hues, polished wooden floorboards, chandeliers, accents of blue in the living areas, and rich textiles.
There is also ample space for Kate and Jamie to entertain their guests with a pool and manicured gardens.
