Silverscreen A-Lister Richard Gere has decided to offload his long-time country estate for a mammoth $39 million.
Idyllically set in the verdant countryside of Pound Ridge in New York State’s Westchester County, Gere has amassed himself a sprawling property that spans nearly 200,000-square-metres and features several structures.
Bought in a series of transactions by the Pretty Woman and Arbitrage star that lasted over a decade, the residence offers a profoundly blissful lifestyle for its new owners.
The main home is a staggering 1100-square-metre, New England-style structure spread over three levels and boasting eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and a host of luxuries fit for Hollywood royalty.
A total of nine fireplaces, chef’s kitchen, mahogany-lined study and a master bathroom with a huge soak tub are just some of the positives of the charmingly rustic abode.
The massive property also has several other buildings on site, including additional guest accommodation, an office, stables and a postcard-perfect barn.
There’s plenty to keep occupants busy, too, including a full-sized soccer pitch, outdoor pool and summer house, horse riding trails and a stunning private pond.
Judging from the photos, the property appears to genuinely be one of a kind, and we cannot fathom why Gere is deciding to get rid of it.
However, it may have something to do with the fact that he’s spent the last two decades in the bucolic estate with his ex-wife Carel Lowell.
Following his third marriage in 2018, ladies man Gere and his wife, Spanish publicist Alejandra Silva, have purchased a new property in the neighbouring country town of North Salem.
According to Dirt.com, the couple discreetly purchased a red-brick Georgian mansion roughly 12 months ago for $13.6 million, as well as a neighbouring parcel of land, to no doubt create yet another beautiful country getaway.
