A homeowner has captivated – and creeped out – millions online after sharing an eerie discovery under the floorboards of her 250-year-old property.
Fascination soon turned to horror when Amelia, a Tiktoker, realised the book she found under timber and soil contained pictures of the house.
Amelia investigated beneath a wonky plank, which was concealing a insight into the past. First, she found a Edward VII 1904 coin, and showed her followers in a now viral video.
But the next item her fingers touched, in the dirt, was a dense and ornate album, containing portraits and a black-and-white exterior image of her house, followed by page after page of pictures of empty rooms in the home.
All of those rooms were vacant, with no explanation.
The pictures take “an unsettling turn” as she flips deeper into the book, she tells her followers.
An ominous smudge can be seen in the snapshots.
“The rest of the album is filled with pictures of empty rooms that have an unsettling feeling,” her voiceover says. “A dark shadow appears in all of these photos.
“I can’t help but think what else could be buried under those floorboards.”
Her videos have been watched by more than 8 million users on the platform.
Followers urged her not to mess with things than cannot be explained.
“Put it back. Please,” said one. Another remarked: “And just like that, you release the curse”.
But equally, many were amused by the sinister atmosphere of the video, filmed in near darkness, by a flickering fire.
“Why can’t you do it with a light on?” someone asked.
Other speculated whether fine dust revealed when she foraged under the floorboards was ash, and the property was built atop the wreck of another home.
