'It's a recipe for paradise,' says local agent William Sarti of Kollosche.

Living in a place called Hope Island naturally sets high expectations, but this serene suburb at the northern end of the Gold Coast more than lives up to its whimsical name.

Picture canals glistening in the sunlight, marinas alive with activity, golf courses that would make a pro swoon, and waterfront homes that epitomise “trophy property”. Here, the carefree charm of daily life is evident as buggies, the preferred mode of transport, casually traverse the streets, giving the luxury cars a well-deserved rest.

Sailing into luxury

William Sarti of Kollosche says that many affluent buyers passionate about boating have made Hope Island home, drawn to its waterfront properties with bridge-free access to the main river and the Gold Coast Broadwater.

“It’s a recipe for paradise with access to two marinas, 24-hour security in a gated estate, and buggy access throughout,” Sarti explains. “The marinas are the focal point, brimming with restaurants, bars, and boutiques, plus the addition of three of Australia’s finest golf courses.”

Large homes like the one at 8081 Riverside Drive are highly sought after.

Domain’s latest House Price Report reveals Hope Island’s median house price has soared 90.6 per cent over the past five years, reaching $1.715 million. Despite this growth, Sarti points out that properties here remain undervalued compared to major cities across Australia.

“Large homes on spacious blocks are highly sought after,” Sarti highlights. “Properties like 8081 Riverside Drive offer a taste of the good life, where no luxury is spared, from its waterfront deck and supersized pool to its six-car garage and wine cellar.”

Living the dream

Sanctuary Cove Country Club is a local hub in the neighbourhood, offering tennis courts, a yoga studio, a sauna, a physio, and a pool. Jo Calder, the club’s gym and fitness manager, says that it defines the idyllic and active lifestyle here.

“My husband and I moved to Hope Island with our three kids in 2018 and instantly fell in love with its resort-like, outdoor lifestyle,” Calder shares. “The kids go to school nearby, and I’m minutes away from work – there’s a sense of calm that seems to ripple through the community, and everything moves at a gentler pace.”

The suburb's luxurious waterfront houses epitomise 'trophy property'.

The peace of mind provided by gated resorts is complemented by the many adventures that await just beyond.

“We’re a very active family, so the close proximity to the hinterland, the Broadwater, and the beaches is invaluable,” she says. “I’m learning to stand-up paddleboard this year, and we love getting out on the jet ski on weekends – all activities integral to life in Hope Island.”
