A house cleaner in Adelaide has purchased the property she has so proudly worked in and taken care of.
The vendor, who was also the listing agent, said the cleaning lady was so enamored with the home, she offered to buy it before it was even listed.
Agent Mannas Chan of Ray White Norwood inked the contract for $920,000, under the hammer, for 2 Victoria Street, Klemzig, on March 16.
He and his wife styled the house to attract a buyer, but the deal was done much closer to home.
“She loved the house,” Chan said in the Ray White auction wrap.
“She offered me $820,000 before it was up for sale, then $860,000 once it was online and we proceeded to auction and she paid $920,000.
“I bought the house four-and-a-half years ago. My wife and I moved out, did some renovations and styled the house so it was vacant during the campaign.
“We had a lot of interest, and there was a big crowd today at the auction.”
The buyer beat three others for the keys to the three-bedroom house she knew better than anyone. Sixteen prospective buyers registered for the chance to throw their hands in the air.
The double-storey house in a family-orientated neighbourhood includes flexible zones for a growing brood. Upstairs is a retreat that teens will relish and, on this same level, a main bedroom suite captures views of the famous Adelaide Hills from the Juliet balcony.
The suburb of Klemzig is the site of the first German settlement in Australia. It takes its name from a town in German Prussia, which is now Klępsk in western Poland.
The median house price in Klemzig has risen 49.1 per cent over five years to land at $806,375. The sum also represents a 5.9 per cent price improvement over 12 months, Domain’s December 2023 House Price Report shows.
