This bargain house sounds like a dream come true – but it’s a nightmare inside.
A one-bedroom flat for sale in Paisley, Scotland is going to auction with an insanely low starting bid of just £5,000 ($AU9,800).
But there’s a reason the price is so cheap.
Inside, the house is a complete shell. Construction debris is littered over every floor, with pieces of broken wood and exposed wires threatening to trip you up with each step.
Huge sheets of moth-eaten wallpaper – coloured a rather appalling shade of dark blue – are peeling off the walls.
In the main areas of the house, the flat is barely weathertight, with shafts of light creeping through the boarded-up windows.
At points, the ceilings have caved in and doors have been ripped off their hinges.
“Prior to habitation the property requires full renovation,” says the listing by Prime Property Auctions.
The listing describes the flat as a “massively discounted opportunity” with “fantastic capital growth potential.”
Once renovated, Prime Property Auctions estimates the flat could generate a monthly rent of £550 to £625 ($AU1,078 to $1,176).
The property is listed with an auction guide price of £25,000 ($AU49,000), with bids starting from £5,000.
