For most people, a bespoke bathtub with treetop views is a luxury reserved for the realm of fantasy.

But one mansion in country Victoria comes with just that – and the bath isn’t for the home’s human inhabitants. It’s for their dog.

This Inverleigh farmhouse is a study in quiet luxury. Its cream weatherboard walls and wide verandahs may look rustic, but the house is crammed with lavish features, some more surprising than others.

In the sunny laundry is a “custom-tiled dog bath” with solid brass tapware and stunning views of green trees and rolling hills.

The four-bedroom house is on the market for offers around $2.2 million to $2.3 million – more than three times the median house price for Inverleigh.

And it’s not the only pet-forward property fetching big bucks in the market.

Last year, a house on Sydney’s upper north shore with a bedroom for the dog sold for $9.1 million at auction.

The dog bedroom came with a daybed and a glass-enclosed custom shower, and was created for the sellers’ beloved Tibetan mastiff.

Dogs aren’t the only pets getting the star treatment by their owners.

A house for sale in Primrose Sands, Tasmania comes with a state-of-the-art enclosure for the family’s two Siamese cats.

An elevated walkway leads from a catflap in the kitchen to a large play area with cat grass, artificial turf, and several platforms for dozing in the sun.

It might sound lavish, but free-roaming cats kill 186 native animals each year. Cat runs like this are a crucial way to protect native wildlife without compromising on your cat’s wellbeing.

Up in Queensland, pet birds are also living a life of luxury.

A bushland escape on the Gold Coast has a dedicated outdoor aviary for birds, while the chicken coop comes with full power and water.

The property’s human residents haven’t been forgotten about, with a pristine freshwater swimming pool, a spa, and two guest villas on site.
