INXS guitarist Tim Farriss has sold his sprawling Kangaroo Valley property for more than $4 million.
The 38-hectare block of land sold after hitting the market more than two years and 60-odd inspections.
The full working cattle property was home to Farriss and his wife Beth and their two sons for about three decades.
The idyllic countryside property is set along the deep waters of the Upper Kangaroo River and features a 1920’s homestead.
The family retained the original feel of the property with its old farm buildings, gardens and house.
It also includes a fully self-contained manager’s cottage, a vegetable garden and a fountain.
Belle Property Berry Nicholas Dale said all interested parties were buyers from Sydney who were mostly attracted to the block as a part-time lifestyle property.
In the end, there were two serious buyers on the property that was initially guided between $4.5 to $4.9 million.
A well-heeled eastern suburbs resident walked away with the keys. The underbidder was a consortium of Sydney buyers who wanted to transform the property into a full-scale retreat.
The property – known as Willabrook – is already run as a luxury country short-term holiday stay, netting a tidy rental income of $695 for two nights on weekends.
Mr Dale said Farriss was extremely happy with the sale of the property but also “very emotional”, as the property held a lot of memories for his family.
Farriss, who lives on the northern beaches, is said to be looking to upgrade in the area.
