Jennifer Aniston poised to buy $6m penthouse in NYC

Aniston appeared on the Good Morning America TV show in February and told the show’s anchor, Robin Roberts, that she was in the market for a Manhattan home.

‘I’ve been looking and looking and looking,’ she said.

‘I grew up here. I miss it. There is nothing like being in the city that is just the city of Everyman. It’s all walks of life. I love that.’

Rumours have been circulating for months that the star was inspecting and close to signing on the dotted line for a number of glamorous pads.

The last potential was supposedly a $15 million penthouse, but it was reported by The New York Daily News that Aniston opted out of that contract.

Today we’ve heard that she’s all but bought not one but two apartments. One is a penthouse on the 18th floor of an elegant pre-war building in Manhattan’s West Village, at 299 West 12th Street. The other is… right below, on the 17th floor, according to Jason Sheftell from the New York Daily News.

Described as a landmark residential building by Wikipedia, the art deco apartments were built around 1930.

The $5.9 million penthouse has just one bedroom and one bathroom, so the theory is that she will combine the two properties to create a home fit for a star of her lofty status.

The penthouse does have spectacular views of New York’s harbour and the Empire State Building though, as well as a 75 square-metre wrap-around terrace – perfect for glamorous entertaining.

Other features of the penthouse are high ceilings, a new open-plan kitchen, hardwood and poured concrete floors and four closets. It has huge casement windows and doors opening from every room onto the beautifully planted roof terrace.

High security is also on the list of features and that includes a doorman.

By combining the apartment downstairs, she would end up with over 250 square metres  of interior space.
