A hunt for a home with character led Lucy Dakin and her partner Nev to this three-bedroom house in Downer.

Beyond its unassuming facade, Dakin discovered large rooms, interesting angles and light-filled interiors.

“I do like that it’s a bit interesting and different,” Dakin says.

“The sun absolutely pours in in the winter. It’s nice and toasty on a sunny winter morning.”

Dakin has lived at the home for 20 years on and off and has spent the last three years in the property.

While the home’s footprint remains unchanged it has been extensively renovated – an updated kitchen and bathroom, central heating, airconditioning, French doors, new windows and beautifully landscaped gardens.

A separate multipurpose room at the front of the home has been used as a personal training and yoga studio.

“We set that up ourselves and it’s been fantastic,” Lucy says.

“If you weren’t running a business it would be a fantastic entertaining area.”

When Dakin first moved in she loved that she could get to the city within a short bus ride. The new owners will soon enjoy close proximity to the light rail.
