Kangaroos footballer Nick Dal Santo has hit the final siren at his city-view apartment in a buzzing part of Elwood.

Dal Santo has listed the upmarket two-bedroom property at 28/125 Ormond Road, an investment, for an auction later this month.

His modern pad has a large balcony terrace for entertaining, a bright, north-facing living area, a marble-flourished bathroom for each bedroom, including a main with walk-in wardrobe.

It’s so close to top cafes that the new owner will smell beans roasting in the morning when the wind blows the right way.

Dal Santo said he and his wife Julie are building a “lovely” family home and the time is right to sell their investment.

“We are really looking forward to the next phase of our life, moving in to a home we have built to suit our lifestyle in the bayside area,” he said.

Hodges agent Angus Graham is representing Dal Santo, with the auction on August 27 and price expectations above $600,000.

Elwood is a hot spot for investors, with a Melbourne University analysis of Domain Group data revealing even apartments without water views hit the sweet spot for rental yield.

Investment buyers don’t have to fork out the premium attracted by properties with ocean vistas, but can command solid lease agreements from tenants who want to be a short stroll to the sand, the research showed.

Mr Graham said Ormond Road in Elwood is a hive of activity, and the suburb is a vibrant spot for younger buyers.

“The apartment is in the thick of it but still has two private parking spots,” he said.

“The sounding area is full of cool cafes, restaurants and shops.

“We have received strong enquiries on the property due to its location, size and affordability.”
