Actor Kate Winslet has sold her stylish New York penthouse for more than $6.8 million after slashing her price expectations.
The Mare of Easttown star has sold her four-bedroom apartment in West Chelsea for $US5.3 million ($6.83 million), the New York Post reports.
It was last asking $US5.69 million and had previously been advertised as a rental for a whopping $US30,000 a month.
The two-storey property has four bedrooms, three-and-a half-bathrooms, and a wraparound rooftop terrace with postcard views of the Hudson River and the city skyline. It covers almost 160 square metres, offering plenty of space for outdoor entertaining.
Inside, the property has a 14-metre-wide “great room” that offers an open-plan living and dining area – with a gas fireplace at its centre – and a chef’s kitchen with a large island, as well as plenty of built-in storage.
Whitewashed oak floors extend throughout the chic home, which provides 280-square-metres of internal living space and features four-metre-high ceilings and around 30 loft windows to let in plenty of light.
Meanwhile, the main bedroom has a sunny southern outlook and a large custom walk-in wardrobe.
Winslet bought the property with her ex-husband, director Sam Mendes, for $US4.99 million in 2004, and bought out his share in 2012, the Post reports.
The buyer was an anonymous shell company.
