Singer Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom have forked out $20 million on a new home in California.

The English actor and California gurl are the latest A-listers to snap up a piece of real estate in the exclusive seaside town of Montecito in Santa Barbara County – having reportedly paid $US14.2 million ($20 million) for a stunning four-bedroom home.

The property was sold to the couple by businessman C. Robert Kidder, the former chief executive of both Chrysler and Duracell, Variety reports.

Perry and Bloom got quite the deal on the compound, which was originally listed for close to $US20 million in 2019. The price was later dropped to $US16 million, before the pair brokered a further discount.

The pair, who welcomed their first child together earlier this year, join a slew of high profile names who have been active in the Montecito market amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Prolific property flippers Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are currently seeking more than $56 million for a four-bedroom home in the neighbourhood, and sold another Montecito home to pop star Ariana Grande earlier this year.

The neighbourhood is also set to be home to billionaire Riley Bechtel who recently paid a record $89.5 million for Rancho San Carlos.

Prince Harry and Megan Markle have also bought in the area, paying $20.9 million for a nine-bedroom home.

Perry and Bloom will have space aplenty at their new Mediterranean-style home that sits on a 3.6-hectare property which spans four parcels of land.

Built in 1934, the home offers stunning ocean and mountain views. It was originally designed by Edwards & Plunkett and later renovated by Lutah Maria Riggs, according to listings platform Zillow.

A long, oak-lined driveway leads to the main residence, which opens out to terraces and lush rolling lawns.

In addition to the main four-bedroom home, there’s also a four-car garage, a guest house, detached office, pool, cabana, tennis court, multiple fountains (for that extra splash of class) and manicured lawns.

The property was sold through Riskin Partners of Village Properties.
