To live in Sunshine Beach, tucked between the Noosa National Park’s lush splendour and the Sunshine Coast’s breathtaking coastline, is to be one of a privileged few.
While it’s perfectly laid-back, luxury resonates throughout this coveted town, with grand homes designed to maximise spectacular ocean views, often with private pools and al fresco areas.
On the other hand, smaller residences and apartments cater to downsizers and holiday-goers.
People don’t stumble upon places like Sunshine Beach by chance; instead, it’s a postcode to which individuals aspire — one that epitomises the pinnacle of coastal living.
Sunshine Beach Real Estate principal Pip Covell says the area’s climate is truly superb, apart from a few sticky days in February.
Add white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters to this picture, and it’s no wonder it attracts a mixture of permanent and seasonal residents and holiday-goers.
“The infrastructure now in place is very different from 20 years ago, with exceptional public and private schools and great transport services, including the Sunshine Coast Airport just 30 minutes down the road,” Covell says.
“It embodies the sought-after have-it-all lifestyle, rarely found in a single place.”
Grateful to call this remarkable place home, Covell paints an idyllic picture of her daily life in Sunshine Beach.
“A normal day may involve a swim and chat with fellow dog owners and beachgoers, taking the long commute to work of five to 10 minutes, driving slowly, as kids ride or scoot down the street,” she says.
“And then there’s the simple joy of working remotely at home while gazing out across the ocean.”
Warick Redwood relocated to this hidden coastal gem from Sydney 32 years ago.
After starting and selling a few small businesses, Redwood recently retired, finding solace and fulfilment in what he affectionately calls paradise.
“Sunshine Beach remains a well-kept secret, tucked away from the busy main roads that lead to the glamour of Hastings Street in Noosa,” he says.
“While away from the crowds, the town’s quaint village creates its own vibrancy, with the beaches and park at its heart.”
Redwood is a life member of the Sunshine Beach Surf Club and says his family is involved in the various aspects of club life.
For your local “pub”, it’s hard to find a place with better views, he says, where days can conclude with a refreshing swim and a couple of bevvies on the ocean-facing deck.
“Sunshine Beach offers an extraordinary way of life,” Redwood says. “Whenever I’m taking a stroll from home along the beach, taking my time, without a care in the world, I see modern architecture mingling with lots of greenery, reminding me of the town’s beauty – not overdeveloped with nature on its doorstep.”
Check the surf from home and let the lapping waves serenade you to sleep at this absolute beachfront haven. It boasts panoramic ocean views, spacious decks and gorgeous interiors with raked ceilings, hardwood timber floors and plantation shutters.
