A $6 million property owned by the family behind one of the most successful earthmoving dynasties in Australia is tipped to smash a residential property record.

“Razor House”, at 32 Becker Place, Mount Ommaney, in Brisbane’s western suburbs, is on the market for $6 million. Should the home sell for its listed price, it will break Mount Ommaney residential property records by $3.4 million.

A jaw-dropping three-storey suspended glass and stone mansion embedded into the suburb’s highest hilltop location, the house is reminiscent of 1 Leopard Street, Kangaroo Point, which broke Brisbane’s highest residential property record earlier this year when it sold for $18.48 million.

“If this was Sydney, we would be selling the property for more than $30 million,” NGU Real Estate CEO Emil Juresic said. “I’ve had a few people say this place reminds me of the Kangaroo Point house but I am 100 per cent confident that this house is better.”

Owner Rhett Lennon and is wife Amanda are third-generation family members of The Lennon Family Group, one of the most successful earthmoving companies in Australia.

Rhett is now a director of Lennon OTR, the off-the-road tyre entity that supplies mining groups worldwide.

The couple, who bought the land 14 years ago for $415,000, spent years planning and designing their dream home, which includes fixtures imported from all over the world. It was finished four years ago.

It’s a spectacular feat in engineering. With more than 100 piers embedded into solid rock, it’s set on 2858 square metres of land overlooking the western suburbs, two Brisbane River reaches, farmland and distant mountains.

Inside the five-bedroom, six-bathroom residence is a three-storey central void, soaring panes of glass, a sweeping circular staircase and a European commercial-grade stone-clad lift.

There’s also a master suite with its own roof garden and fire pit, a tiered cinema, a French oak bar, children’s wing, multiple decks, a pool house, a magnesium horizon pool and garaging for 12 cars.

Mr Juresic set Mount Ommaney’s house price record 12 months ago for a $2.6 million estate at Sutherland Court.

“Mount Ommaney is home to some of the most prestigious property in Brisbane, however, it has remained under the radar, which is seen as a positive by many local homeowners,” Mr Juresic said. “This is the best home in Brisbane on the market but because of its location, people don’t realise that it exists.”

A marketing video of the house made by NGU Real Estate had 265,000 views after only one week on the market.

“Interest has been incredible. We’d like to think we’d sell it fast but we’ll wait as long as it takes for the right buyer to fall in love,” Mr Juresic said.
