Explore The Block in 360 to win
Couples on The Block this week are at breaking point, as hearts and constitutions crumble like dusty old factory bricks.
Like sands through the hourglass, and Brad and Angelina, so are the days on The Block.
Stressed out property stylist Julia walked off site earlier in the week, leaving girlfriend Sasha to slave on her own to deliver the living and dining room.
When Julia is asked if she will continue on the show, she says that is a chat she needs to have with Sasha.
What is it with renovations and relationships?
Just as Ikea is where passion goes to die — how many of us have fallen out of love in a tiff over Nord side tables? — so too is working on The Block proving to be deal breaker.
A man in a bar once seriously used the opening line on me, “I will date you but I will not go on The Block with you”, and I thought he was mental.
But never has a smarter word been spoken. Now, where did I put his number?
The renovation is at the halfway point, which is generally when couples threaten to separate after one too many fights over sconces and designer toot paper.
Julia eventually comes back….
….and hates everything Sasha has styled in her absence.
As other couples embrace and celebrate finishing their biggest rooms yet, Julia and Sasha are angry, at ten paces.
In Will and Karlie’s apartment, judges Neale Whitaker, Darren Palmer and Shaynna Blaze swoon — as usual.
“There’s a but coming,” says Neale, and he doesn’t the plumbers’ crack sort, of which there is always plenty on The Block.
Too much furniture in a small space. Next.
Perth’s Dan and Carleen have delivered luxe, glam, modern, Italian designer. No dramaaaa here. These old ducks are two strong hearts.
Over in Geelong boys Andy and Ben’s pad, the plastic moulded chairs that look as though they were nicked from the outer at Skilled Stadium don’t gain points.
And Darren does his back checking the TV to couch position…take note on how to do this at your next open for inspection.
In Julia and Sasha’s living and dining areas, the art work and city views are the heroes. For all their problems, their room is a success.
Kim and Chris’ country house pasticcio frightens Shaynna, and in a cry for help, she looks deep into the cameraman’s soul.
Darren sits on the couch and does the neck thing again.
The scores are in, and it’s a draw between Sasha and Julia, and Dan and Carleen. The codgers cash in a bonus point they won during a previous challenge, and pocket the $10,000 prize.
