Living in the lap of luxury

The phrase “apartment swimming pool” holds so much promise: a few laps before breakfast; a quick dip after work; long, lazy days lounging poolside with a good book and a cold drink. In reality, apartment swimming pools are often tired, forgotten places cursed by shade, leaf matter and an abundance of pebblecrete. That’s not the case with a sleek, new breed of developments incorporating high-end pool and recreation areas the likes of which are more often seen in five-star resorts than residential buildings.

At Infinity by Crown Group in Zetland, the wedge-shaped pool is designed to be the focal point of the 20-storey, 326-apartment mixed-use development next to Green Square station.

Crown Group global head of sales and marketing, Julian Sedgwick, says it’s rare to find a wet-edge infinity pool like this in a residential apartment building.

“The pool has been architecturally designed to fit with the building’s curves and positioned to provide stunning poolside views,” he says.

Residents of the Koichi Takada-designed building will also have access to a spa, gym, music room with a baby grand piano, media theatre, “sky lounge” function room and rooftop terrace.

Crown Group is making a name for itself with its resort-style amenities. This month, the developer completed Skye in North Sydney, which has a 25-metre infinity rooftop pool inspired by luxury hotel swimming pools such as the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in Singapore. The pool sits alongside a residents’ gym and lounge, fringed by a timber deck and tropical plants. There’s one penthouse remaining for sale at Infinity.

There are about 75 apartments remaining for sale at Palisade Miranda by Galileo Group. Palisade embraces coastal glamour, with palm-fringed sub-tropical landscaping by Site Image, an elegant pool area, barbecue areas, club room for residents and private gym. The project, designed by KANNFINCH and Urban Possible with interiors by Neil Bradford Design, has nearly 200 residences in an eight-storey building. All units have parking. So far, it has proven especially popular with local empty-nesters and investors.
