A two-bedroom mobile home that was owned by Elvis and Priscilla Presley in the late 1960’s has sold at auction for a reported US$67,650 ($94,220).

The 18.2 metre-long Delta mobile home – which was auctioned at GWS Auctions “Legends: Iconic Film & Music Memorabilia Auction” on August 25th – was one of eight mobile homes that Presley had parked on his famous 65 hectare “Circle G Ranch”.

“The mobile home, it’s just one of the coolest pieces we’ve ever had,” Brigritte Kruse, lead auctioneer and co-founder of GWS Auctions told CNN Travel prior to the auction.

Circle G Ranch was Presley’s favourite getaway spot and he would often stay there with his group of friends, nicknamed the Memphis Mafia, when he wanted to escape fan and media attention.

Presley loved his hideaway so much that he and Priscilla even spent part of their honeymoon at the ranch.

The two-bedroom trailer has been carefully restored to reflect how it would have been when the Presley’s first purchased it in 1967.

Featuring wood panelling and a small kitchen, the mobile home is fairly modest…except the bathroom which boasts a bathtub and sink finished in gold lead paint, which Kruse said was “typical of Elvis fashion”.

The mobile home has only changed hands twice in the 51 years since Presley purchased it and was sold with its original notarised bill of sale and registration details featuring Presley’s signature.

“No one’s ever changed their registration because they always wanted it to be in Elvis’ name,” Kruse told CNN Travel.

* Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported Presley’s home sold for $833k.
