An artist in London has discovered a mystery space in his bedroom after noticing an unusual section of wood on the floor.
“I found a little clue on the floor behind my door,” Sebastian Chaumeton said in a video posted to his Instagram account.
“It’s a small bit of wood going the wrong way.”
Appearing ever curious, the video shows Chaumeton continuing to film as he shifts back his bed and readies tools for more exploring.
“I lifted my bed up so I didn’t get too much dust on it and proceeded to saw out a hole,” he said in a narrated video to his 26,000 followers.
“And low and behold, there was an old fireplace back there.”
In the video, Chaumeton can be seen sawing out sections of his bedroom wall before stepping through the large gap to reveal the old tiled fireplace.
He then produces a vacuum cleaner and shares the unusual spoils he found.
“I cleaned out decades of dust and found three chupa chups, a bouncy ball and a bone,” he said.
“I’m not going to stop and think why those were back there.”
Chaumeton, who is documenting his DIY renovations online, said he planned to turn the negative space into a wardrobe.
“I’m going to seal up this old fireplace as it was nothing too special. But I will be using the tiles in a future mosaic concept I’ve got in mind,” he said.
He then put an old pound he found back in the fireplace “to appease the house spirits”.
