Nestled among a series of garden rooms, 52 Longstaff Street is a peaceful oasis in a popular inner north location.

Owners David West and Paul Davies are moving to Melbourne after 20 years in the home and their hard work inside and out means the new owners will be able to move in without lifting a finger.

“We’ve tried to preserve the character of the house,” David says.

“That’s a thing people always notice when they visit, it’s just the feel and the character that’s hard to pin down.”

The gardens are not only stunning, but they’ve also been planted with water efficiency in mind.

“It was mostly just lawn with one or two bushes,” David says.

“We’ve reduced the lawns because they use a lot of water, put in 12,000 litres of water tanks and designed the gardens to have several distinct rooms.”

The home has also been refreshed internally – polished floorboards, an updated kitchen and bathroom, central heating and evaporative cooling are among the updates.

French doors open the living area on to the timber deck, providing the perfect setting for indoor/outdoor entertaining.

The deck overlooks a beautiful cottage garden, complete with water feature.

David said the inner north location is another major drawcard.

“The area is really a big plus – Tilley’s and the Lyneham shops are very attractive and a really good centre,” David said.

“Civic, Belconnen, Dickson and Mitchell are all close, the bus is very close, and of course, there will be light rail as well.”
