A British man is building a man cave like no other.

Dave Billings, an engineer from Derby in the UK, is in the process of digging a tunnel from his home that leads to an underground bar.

Billings explains on his YouTube channel Tornado Dave and on his Facebook page how the tunnel will be 40 feet deep once complete. There will even be a “beer barrel lift” to transport kegs down to the bunker.

Billings’ home is the site of a WWII army camp, which inspired the creation of “Tunnel Dave”.

“I found this army well accidentally when I was levelling my garden. I built a bunker about 11 years ago and always wanted to make a tunnel to the house,” he explains on his YouTube channel.

Billings decided to mark the 80th anniversary of the prisoner of war breakout, known as “The Great Escape”,  with the creation of “Tunnel Dave”. He has been documenting the process online since December.

Plans for a mass escape at Stalag Luft III took place in April 1943, before the breakout occurred in March 1944.

Billings shows viewers on his channel how he built a staircase in the well, located at the end of his garden. He will then be able to “slide” down to the underground bar with the aid of an electric tunnel cart.

Footage on his channel details the construction of the metal-clad passage that will transport Dave to the bunker.

There will even be a “beer barrel lift”, with Billings explaining how it would be too tedious to carry full kegs by hand down the staircase.

It hasn’t been smooth sailing, with Billings experiencing some challenges along the way.

Alongside flooding issues in the bunker, he discovered he would be unable to connect the tunnel to the house due to under-floor heating.

“I’m now going to extend the house with a big bunker underneath the extension and dig into the side of that,” Billing informs viewers.
