Never come between a man and his pot plants.
A homeowner has gained sweet revenge on neighbours who were persistently drunk and stealing pot plants, bins and garden furniture from outside his home.
It’s a tale of petty retaliation that has lit up Reddit, with followers of the popular thread commending the “unhinged” plan to teach the annoying neighbours a lesson.
Anything “not screwed down” was fair game for the thieves, who eventually got a taste of their own medicine thanks to a simple but effective plan.
A Reddit user posted the story, explaining how his friend had “issues” with neighbours, who were “noisy, continuously drunk or stoned”.
They were nicking “really minor things” including pot plants, bins and garden furniture – anything that was not bolted down, he said.
“After many times of lifting the fence panels up and taking back the items that they took he got annoyed with the balls on them and the lack of any real police response,” the Redditor said.
“Middle of the summer they had a habit of having ‘parties’ (sic) loud music till all hours and generally scum roaming round the local area causing trouble.
“My mate had nipped home during his break and noticed that the front door was open and one of the ‘parties’ was going on in the rear of the house.
“At that time he worked as a day labourer for independent carpenter. A plan was hatched.”
The man removed the doors of the neighbours’ van and “dumped” it in a skip.
“When he returned that evening the door was still missing,” the Redditor said. “Was replaced the next morning with a palette with a mattress stuck behind it. Eventually someone probably stole a piece of chip board and that was screwed in place.”
One of the many comments branded the move “perfect pettiness” that avoided criminality.
“It’s irritating, but not nearly hostile enough for the cops to get involved.. I mean who’s gonna put out a APB out on a (sic) old door?” they said.
Another summed it up neatly: “This is truly unhinged.”
The pretty inner-city home has an inviting, paved terrace, abundantly planted out, with the bonus of a garden studio.
The cool, contemporary renovation includes a garden which is an extension of the living space, flowing to a deck and a verndant lawn beyond.
A pergola overlooking the vast lawn positioned this as a family haven, on 562 square metres.
