Residents at Tuggeranong’s new Southport complex will enjoy opulent amenities typical of a six-star resort, developers say.
A 25-metre lap pool, luxurious plunge pool, 200-square-metre gym, landscaped gardens, a steam room and a sauna are among the onsite facilities.
Construction of the 360-unit Geocon development will commence in March and more than half the apartments have already been sold. The second stage of the development will be released this month.
“What is resonating really well is the facilities offered by the developers,” Independent Property Group director of project marketing Wayne Harriden says.
“First-home buyers especially are loving the fact that it’s got pools, a gym and a club room.”
Outstanding views across the lake and the mountains are also a key feature of the development and Geocon managing director Nick Georgalis says prospective buyers have been able to enjoy a glimpse of the outlook through virtual reality goggles.
Once the development is complete, residents will be able to take in the water and mountain vistas from a viewing platform at the top of the development.
“Southport is one of the few developments in Canberra that has this sort of amenity,” Mr Georgalis says.
“I think all the projects we’ve delivered – Observatory Living, Wayfarer, Southport and Infinity – stand out and offer that point of difference. They offer a space that feels like you’re in a resort. The developments are more than a building, they’re a place where people can be part of a community.”
The development includes a range of floorplans from one-bedroom apartments through to a sprawling four-bedroom residence. There are cross-ventilated and terrace options and one, two and three-bedroom apartments are still available.
Each residence has been thoughtfully designed and includes stylish, sun-filled interiors.
“The interiors and the finishes are a reflection of how sophisticated and modern the development is,” Mr Georgalis.
One bedroom apartments (43 to 76 square metres) are priced from $242,400 to $366,400, two bedroom apartments (71-92 square metres) range from $344,900 to $456,900 and 104 to 111-square-metre three-bedroom apartments are priced between $481,400 and $589,900.
The development will form an integral part of the new Southquay precinct, a trendy waterside neighbourhood on the shores of Lake Tuggeranong. On completion, Southquay will be home to about 1000 dwellings

A visit to the Southport display suite convinced Samuel Arquero to buy an apartment in the development.
The long-term Tuggeranong resident was thinking about purchasing a first home, but when he learned about the standard of amenities and location of Southport, he decided to make those plans official.
“I visited the display and before I went down there, I wasn’t planning on buying it,” Samuel says.
“But when I went down there, the agent was so helpful and he sold it to me. I’ve bought an apartment on the top level of section one, overlooking the lake.”
Geocon managing director Nick Georgalis says the company aims to give off-the-plan buyers an experience that’s as close as possible to inspecting a property.
“We want to give a real feeling of what it’s like to live there,” Mr Georgalis says.
“We really try to express the experience in many different ways through the design and the goggles.”
The development’s resort-style facilities appeal to Samuel. He’s also looking forward to taking in views of the lake from his apartment.
“It’s going to be an awesome feeling to wake up to,” Samuel says.
“The fact that there’s a pool and a gym, as well as cafes just five minutes away, is an awesome bonus.”
