As a sold sign went up on the North Coast home known colloquially as “Matt Damon’s house” on Thursday night, selling agent Frank Mlikota wondered what the Hollywood star had told his mates about his recent rental home.

If anything, it must have been good, because “half of Hollywood have made inquiries” to buy it since Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso handed in the keys to return to their US homeland.

The property, officially named Blackwood House, was withdrawn from the market for the first half of this year while it was leased by the Hollywood A-lister. It returned to the market in July for $3.8 million.

Since then, Mr Mlikota said enquiries had been made by a family member of Isla Fisher, in the hope the actor and her husband Sacha Baron Cohen might inspect it in November.

“And Nicole Kidman didn’t visit the property, but someone came to view it on her and her husband’s [Keith Urban’s] behalf,” said Mr Mlikota, of Parkinson Real Estate.

“They really loved it.”

While the actors are yet to confirm their interest in the property and there remains a fair swag of Hollywood that did not make inquiries, the house has previously played host to Damon’s mate and fellow actor Liam Hemsworth and his partner Miley Cyrus when they rented it over summer.

Meanwhile, the house next door is leased by Damon’s bestie, and Liam’s brother, Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky, while their nearby $7 million property is being rebuilt.

Ultimately, it was a buyer from Sydney – not an actor – who exchanged to buy the contemporary five-bedroom residence, which comes with 58 hectares of natural bushland, for the $3.8 million asking price.

The North Coast has done a decent impression of Hollywood Downunder in recent years, luring the likes of singer Natalie Imbruglia, Simon Baker and his wife Rebecca Rigg, Isabel Lucas, singer-songwriter Xavier Rudd, and INXS rock star Jon Farriss.
