A Florida homeowner’s unusual listing has been baffling prospective buyers.
All the windows in the fourth storey have been covered up and replaced by virtual reality screens.
The virtual reality ‘windows’ – which, on closer inspection, look like four TV screens stuck together – depict garishly-coloured tropical landscapes.
“Welcome to the Racecar Mansion,” the listing says. “Virtual reality windows of the fourth floor will take you to space and time of your choosing due to $$$$$ tech.”
The listing implies that the virtual reality windows may have been a hurricane measure, stating that fewer windows provide “extra safety” during extreme weather events.
The owner is a race car business owner who selected the home’s location due to its proximity to a local private school.
Prospective buyers will be relieved to know that there are traditional windows on the lower stories, most of them protected with heavy timber shutters.
The property comes with four bedrooms, six bathrooms, an elevator, an entire floor for storage, and a garage with parking for six cars.
The house overlooks an eight-lane highway. Clearwater Beach is a short drive away.
The mansion is on the market for $US1,999,999 ($AU3.1 million). The price was recently reduced by $US50,000.
