Canberra’s burgeoning Kingston Foreshore is preparing to welcome more residents and more restaurants with three new buildings set for completion around late October.
Three new penthouses will soon be released at the Pier, the final development underway on Kingston Island, encompassing 156 apartments and 30 penthouses across three buildings.
The release represents one of the last opportunities to buy into the development, with nearly all of the Pier’s units selling before construction began.
Developer Doma Group has confirmed the team behind Knightsbridge will open a cafe and bar, Kingston Collective, at the precinct.
Burgess Rawson managing director Guy Randell, who is coordinating the commercial tenancies, said Canberrans could also expect two more restaurants and a boutique florist.
The Fyshwick-based Icandy Kitchen and Bathroom will also open a shopfront and display, while a local IT company will take up the available office space.
Mr Randell said there was one “cracking” space left, suited to an eatery.
“It’s got full views over the harbour…and a really large outdoor undercover dining area,” he said. “It’s definitely one of the best.”
Prospective buyers keen to snap up an expansive apartment within the development have the choice of three penthouses soon to hit the market, each boasting views over the Jerrabomberra Wetlands and Lake Burley Griffin.
Doma Group general manager of development Gavin Edgar said the group, in conjunction with Colliers International, had decided to hold back releasing the trio until they were complete to showcase their size, interiors and views.
The Pier is the Doma Group’s fifth project at the Foreshore.
Mr Edgar said the group had reflected on its previous projects, including Bridge Point and Dockside Kingston, in developing its latest offering.
“We were able to target the mix and style of apartment product for the Pier that we knew would appeal to a range of buyers wanting to experience Foreshore living” he said.
“We think the opening of the Pier promenade and boardwalk around the island later this year will only enhance that experience for people who call Kingston Foreshore home.”
The boardwalk is among the group’s public landscaping and construction work on Kingston Island, which will also include facilities for boats in the harbour
The new waterside boardwalk will connect pedestrians and cyclists to existing paths in the area, managing director Jure Domazet said.
