Embark offers 160 apartments across a seven-storey building. Sitting alongside it are another 12 apartments in a heritage-listed building.

After a highly successful launch, construction is gathering momentum at Embark with the foundations coming out of the ground in the coming weeks.

Embarking on the journey of purchasing a new home is certainly an exciting one. It’s this exact adventure that sparked inspiration for JWLand’s newest Inner North development.

Strategically positioned near the heart of Canberra, on the Lyneham side of Northbourne Avenue, is this vibrant new precinct that spoils with urban living alongside a welcoming suburban community.

“During the planning phase for this development, we took inspiration from the impending light rail which, at the time, was in the very early stages of construction,” says development manager Aaron Ackland of JWLand.

“We wanted buyers to ‘Embark’ on a journey that will be the first residential development to be completed as part of the Northbourne Avenue renewal program.”

Currently in its first stage, Embark offers 160 one, two and three-bedroom apartments across a seven-storey building. Sitting alongside it are another 12 apartments in a heritage-listed building on the site which inspired the architectural design of the entire precinct.

“We have designed Embark to respect both the natural environment and the heritage of the surrounding residential area,” Ackland says.

Each apartment is armed with quality appliances, fittings and finishes that are designed to stand the test of time.

The modern kitchens feature Fisher & Paykel appliances, an induction cooktop and an externally ducted rangehood system.

Both the kitchen and bathroom come equipped with durable, easy-to-maintain surfaces, including timber veneer features thoughtfully complemented by ergonomic metallic handles.

This means there will be less time spent maintaining the home and more time available for cooking delicious meals, entertaining guests, or spending time with the family.

The western-facing homes are also protected by movable louvre screens that will keep the homes cool in summer and warm in winter. High-quality carpets and double-glazed windows provide top-notch insulation and acoustic performance.

Ackland says the dwellings have been sustainably designed to reduce environmental impact and, in doing so, residents’ bottom line.

“Specific materials have been chosen to regulate apartment temperatures throughout the year, while strategically positioned heating and cooling systems optimise efficiency to reduce running costs,” says Ackland.

“In our kitchens, high energy star rating appliances deliver on capability without compromising on the features that make your life easier. Helping the world save energy and helping you save money go hand in hand.”

The main building features rooftop gardens with barbecue facilities and stunning 360-degree views of the city, and the ground floor will deliver a vibrant mix of commercial spaces.

Venturing out of Embark is just as enjoyable as staying home, with Braddon’s coffee culture and boutique shops a short stroll in one direction, and Dickson’s smorgasbord of delicious cuisine a short walk in the other. It’s also just a 10-minute bike ride to ANU or a quick trip on the now-completed tram into the city.

With construction well underway, stage one of Embark is set to be completed by mid-2020.
