Envie construction is due to start within the next few months with development to be completed in 2021.

On the edge of the city, with views to Mount Ainslie on one side and iconic Glebe Park on the other, is Envie. This $65 million development is looking to breathe new life into a site once home to rundown public housing not too long ago.

The luxury one, two and three-bedroom apartment complex is one of the latest offerings from developer Geocon. It is the “crowning jewel” to their city site, which is also home to two other developments currently under construction – Tryst and Metropol.

“Envie is the embodiment of relaxed sophistication – a private oasis on the doorstep of the city,” says Geocon’s director of marketing and corporate affairs Melanie Hindson.

“It’s also the last opportunity to buy a brand-new apartment in this prime location, with views across Glebe Park.”

Designed by Fender Katsalidis Architects, the design team behind the NewActon precinct, the exterior of the building displays a modernist concrete frame with scattered timber elements that create a playful facade.

Internally, the apartments feature warm natural shades of gold and brass, and striking contrasts of cream and black alongside tactile textures.

Each home boasts industry-leading appliances, fittings and fixtures. These include stone benchtops and ducted range hoods, engineered timber floors and double-glazed windows that fill the space with an abundance of natural light.

As its name suggests, Envie contains an almost never-ending list of luxurious amenities you might normally associate with a five-star hotel – a private spa, relaxation room, shared chef’s kitchen, rooftop terraces and even a concierge.

While the development is just a one-minute walk to Canberra Centre, a six-minute walk to Braddon and seven-minutes to the new light rail City stop, its ability to also shut out the rat race of the city is what makes living here so enviable.

“Being on the edge of the city in Reid, Enive oozes calm and beckons you into its private sanctuary,” explains Hindson.

Hindson expects the homes to appeal most to owner-occupiers, particularly downsizers or professionals looking for exclusive living with easy access to everything needed for work and play.

“One local couple who are looking to downsize have purchased two smaller units and have worked with us to combine them into one larger, custom-built apartment,” says Hindson.

Hindson says Geocon’s mission is to make Canberra iconic by building beautiful new places for the generations to come.

“Envie does just that. It redefines what the modern apartment ought to be … it pays homage to Canberra’s most historical forms, but it also leans right into the future we know is promising in this city.”
