If you’re feeling cramped in Canberra, it might be time for a move over the border.
A release of land from developers Peet Limited has opened up 39 blocks for sale about 30 minutes from the centre of Canberra.
They range from two to 5.3 hectares.
“Burrabella is a rare find near Canberra,” Peet chief executive and managing director Brendan Gore says.
“There hasn’t been a land release like this, in this particular location, for about 15 years.”
Lots at Burrabella look out over rolling hills and picturesque country landscape.
The sites are arranged around a 100-hectare conservation area, including the hill and the creek line. The space will act as a common area for residents, as well as providing a home to several threatened species.
Lots have been designed with large level construction envelopes designed to keep build costs down, as well as provide space for a big backyard and a pool. Properties boast a non-potable water supply, electricity to the boundary and telecommunications lines.
Lifestyle is the key factor that draws people to buy land allotments, according to McGrath agent John Sneddon.
Larger blocks offer space for owners to indulge their hobbies – maybe a horse or two, a garden, a small orchard, or anything else that takes their fancy.
“For a lot of people it keeps coming back down to space,” Sneddon says.
“People like the privacy, like room to pursue whatever it is they’re into.”
He believes the Googong location is the perfect mix of country lifestyle and city convenience.
“Everything’s very handy, but you’re on acreage,” Sneddon says.
The site is less than 10 minutes drive from the Googong township or Queanbeyan, and 30 minutes to Canberra City.
The Monaro Highway means Fyshwick and Tuggeranong are within easy reach, just 20 minutes away.
Burrabella is selling fast, Sneddon says, with buyers ranging from first-time purchasers to tree-changers and “everything in between”.
