Combining the easy appeal of townhouses with the comfort of traditional homes, Istra is South Canberra’s striking new waterfront development.
Developed by Alen Perkovic from the Perkovic Group in collaboration with Kasparek architects, Istra offers 44 three-bedroom townhouses in a variety of layouts – meeting Canberra’s buyer demand for more townhouses on the market.
“The development has been designed to fill a gap in the market,” says agent Nick Paine of Luton Properties Gungahlin.
“Three-bedroom townhouses are one of the highest demand property types in the ACT. By providing different variations, we’re offering more options for this popular home.”
The architecturally designed homes vary from two to four stories with living space between 85 and 150 square meters.
“We wanted each home to have two car spaces on the lower ground floor and an en suite and bathroom at the very minimum,” explains Paine.
Some of the homes have up to three bathrooms, as well as a multi-purpose rumpus room, designer kitchens and multiple balconies or yards.
The high-end finishes are available in ebony or ivory colour schemes, but each comes with timber-look floor tiles, black metal cladding and a white render for a timeless feel.
“There are very few upgrades available, which means the prices don’t fluctuate from home to home,” says Paine.
Situated on the banks of Lake Tuggeranong and Isabella Pond, the townhouses are positioned on staggered elevations, to ensure every single one has views of the water and the Brindabella mountain range.
Istra’s strong connection to nature means those who love the outdoors will thrive in this development. More than 2000 square meters of lush, bespoke green space surrounds the building, which is also close to parks, cycle paths, walking trails and plenty of open space.
Make no mistake, though, Istra is still rich in amenity. With South Point shopping centre on its doorstep, Istra provides easy access to an abundance of shopping, dining and entertainment options – including Limelight Cinemas which offers $8 movie tickets every Tuesday.
It’s also just a slip lane onto Drakeford Drive, which will help you get almost anywhere in Canberra within about 20 minutes.
Istra has been designed to appeal to a range of owners including young professionals and couples, live-in owners and investors.
“The homes along the water, in particular, have had a lot of interest from live-in owners,” says Paine.
“They want a waterside location with quick access over the bridge to the town centre while being in a less congested part of the waterfront.”
Completion is expected in early 2020.
