No kitchen, no worries. A luxury house with nowhere to cook has fetched almost $3 million.
The swish townhouse in Christchurch, New Zealand, was marketed as an opportunity for a discerning buyer to craft their ideal interior.
The four-level residence, named the Rotunda for its striking shape, was transacted for $NZ2.98 million ($AU2.7 million) to a couple who love the option of customisation, according to One Roof.
Agent Aaron Pero of Vivacity told One Roof the developer did not want to install a kitchen worth thousand of dollars, only to alienate a buyer who had a different vision.
The unique property has all in place but the kitchen and some joinery, Pero told the NZ-based media outlet.
The curvy, corner townhouse, with a private entry, is a focal point for the Cranmer Terraces.
“Conceived by MAP Architects and with construction nearing completion, The Rotunda will be delivered as a warm shell, complete with code compliance, freshly finished paintwork, all-encompassing flooring, and elegantly tiled bathroom,” the listing explains.
The top level is dedicated to entertaining with a view, Vivacity’s listing explains. Main living and dining unfolds on the first floor, where the buyer will find the main bedroom suite, with double-vanity bathroom and soaking tub.
It is a shell, ready to be finished accordingly.
Harcourts International were among the marketing agents for the development, billing the high-end build as “half the price of Auckland”, with no compromise on design.
A 2022 listing for a three-bedroom terrace sold in the complex highlighted the vibrant position.
“The location is a short walk to Hagley Park, the Avon river, the Chch Art Gallery, Te Pae convention centre, Museum and Art Centre,” Harcourts said. “Christchurch’s top bars and restaurants and the award-winning Riverside Market are just around the corner.”
The complex comprises 44 terraces and communal facilities including lashing of green space, in the CBD.
Vivacity is selling another three-level townhouse in the block, with a car turntable, lavish kitchen with a wine fridge, three bedrooms and $NZ1.9 million ($AU1.7 million) price hopes. Named the Chairman’s Residence, it carries a lofty look and feel.
The chic update has added gloss and crisp lines to this traditional inner-city home.
The Victorian-era terrace has a family-friendly extension, with a high-shine black and marble kitchen.
From the street, you could not imagine the impeccable style that awaits inside this updated home.
