Marilyn Monroe arches a highly shaped eyebrow over the boardroom of one of the city’s more funky CBD office spaces.
The colourful portrait is a highlight of the 425-square metre space on level 4 of 60 Marcus Clarke Street, but the surprises don’t end there.
Building owner, Centuria Propety Funds, has completed a refurbishment of 12 office levels, ground floor retail tenancies and two levels of car parking.
Level 4 has enjoyed a creative reinterpretation on the back of an earlier success at level 8, 54 Marcus Clarke Street. That refurbishment was highlighted by a portrait of Albert Einstein that welcomed visitors.
CBRE office associate director Zoe Ferrari says Centuria had been highly encouraged by the response to its fitout of Number 54 and has continued that creative approach on level four of number 60.
“There’s certainly a growing appetite to offer employees and clients a more stimulating workplace environment and Centuria has brought its experience in the Sydney and Melbourne markets to Canberra,” she says.
“Level four has an element of the industrial with polished concrete floors and exposed ceiling structures. The layout is also very flexible, offering break out meeting spaces, a boardroom and a full kitchen.
The floor plan will be creatively fitted out to also include a reception area, a meeting room, three offices and 36 workstations.
Ferrari says the space is filled with light, offers amazing views, and would suit a wide range of professional services.
“The fitout has been carefully calibrated to maximise its appeal. While it is certainly a reinvention of the traditional office space, it opens up the range of businesses it will appeal to,” Ferrari says.
“I think businesses today are generally giving more thought to the ambience of the office space and the increases in productivity that an inspired team can deliver.”
An on-site cafe is located next to the building lobby.
“That’s a valuable feature as many businesses are now using third party locations, like cafes, as alternate or complementary meeting spaces,” Ferrari says.
Joint leasing agent Nicole Cooper at Knight Frank endorses the Centuria approach.
“There is a refreshed energy within the building, and that promotes a healthy and happy workplace,” she says.
“We believe there is going to be strong competition from potential tenants.”
The building’s lifts, air conditioning, foyer and end of trip facilities have also been upgraded.
