Wondering how everyone else is overseas right now? Dreaming of a glamorous private escape?

Dreams are for free, and these are some of the most luxurious holiday homes around the world that we could dream of.

The Hamptons, New York, USA

If money is truly no object, the summer playground of New York’s elite offers a range of oversized waterfront retreats.

Such as this compound of two houses on a private peninsula in Water Mill South, just outside Southampton, offering a combined 24 bedrooms and 38 bathrooms.

It’s yours for the princely sum of $US99.5 million ($A151.98 million).

One home features a tennis court, saltwater pool and spa, and a pool house with commercial kitchen, gym and sauna.

The other has a heated pool and spa, its own pool house, movie theatre, bowling alley, half basketball court, 350-bottle wine cellar, indoor swimming pool (in case the owner didn’t have enough choice of pools) and a game room with billiards, shark tank, wet bar and arcade.

It’s not far from a range of beaches and from downtown Southampton. But why would you leave?

Of course, some buyers’ pockets are even deeper.

An LA mansion is asking $US195 million – and that’s after the guide was discounted from earlier hopes of $US250 million.

Known as Casa Encantada, buyers will indeed be charmed by its architectural design and more recent restoration, with features such as a grand staircase, high ceilings, living room with Art Deco bar, marble baths and walnut-panelled library.

Outside there are formal rose gardens, a vegetable and herb garden, tropical botanical garden, lawns, pool and a pool pavilion that can be turned into a media room.

If it sells at that price, it wouldn’t even set a record for US real estate. That belongs to hedge fund founder Ken Griffin who paid $US240 million on a New York penthouse on Billionaires’ Row in 2019.

Paris, 4th arrondissement, France

Feeling inspired by the Olympic Games? Keen to dust off that high school French with a stint in La Ville Lumière?

This six-bedroom period home in the fashionable Marais neighbourhood comes with a price tag of €25 million ($A41.52 million).

It features the perfect conservatory for morning coffee, a courtyard, and multiple fireplaces throughout.

There’s even a heated swimming pool with sauna and fitness room downstairs, so its owners can train – almost – like an Olympian.

Across the pond, a different style of period home in London is listed with nine bedrooms and price hopes of £45 million ($A88.45 million).

The Georgian stucco-fronted, 19th century house has been renovated and now comes with a lift, designer kitchen, marble tiled bathrooms, cinema, private terraces, pool, massage/treatment room, staff bedrooms and a digital home automation system.

It has the distinction of being set on Buckingham Gate, so just steps to Buckingham Palace.

Also known as St Barts, the Caribbean island and popular tourist destination sits east of Puerto Rico.

The six-bedroom Villa Neo is yours for €47 million and boasts sparkling sea views, a glittering swimming pool and jacuzzi, al fresco dining, two kitchens, a media room and an entertainment room.

It’s also close to the white sand of St Jean Beach, plus shopping and restaurants.

Tourlos, Mykonos, Greece

The island of Mykonos offers holidaymakers beaches by day and nightlife after dark, but the owner of the new 14-bedroom two-villa compound known as Azzura can host the party at theirs.

Have a barbecue, enjoy the swimming pool and gaze at the sea, or make use of the tennis court, hammam or outdoor jacuzzi.

The price tag? €16 million.
